Admission requirements:

Completed grammar school or four-year secondary education in Croatia, or a recognized certificate of completion of equivalent education abroad, and, if prescribed by the Faculty, a successfully passed entrance exam at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek

Competencies acquired upon completion of studies (learning outcomes):

  • Understand the state and trends of historical events, understand their impact on the individual, organization and society, and assess their applicability in a given context
  • Understand the main factors affecting the education and appropriate vocational training of historians for jobs in  places where there is a need for their work and contribution
  • Understand the basic methods of research and planning concepts in research work
  • Model interdisciplinarity and multiculturalism, and the concept of scientific research
  • Apply new scientific technology
  • Understand the study and use of historical sources and historiography
  • Understand the basic vertical application areas
  • Understand the basic principles and methods of acquiring knowledge (historical facts)
  • Understand the competencies related to generalization and reasoning based on historical facts.
  • Understand and apply key aspects of historical sources and historiography
  • Understand and apply historical knowledge for less complex jobs
  • Understand and apply scientific methods, appropriate for addressing issues related to historical topics
  • Identify and understand the methodological approaches to the problems of the historical system
  • Understand the historical processes and to apply the acquired knowledge in daily work
  • Analyze the situation, identify opportunities and define the problems encountered by organizations and individuals
  • Model the historical processes and information in organizations and apply models in the development of the historical system
  • Understand and apply ethical principles, legislative regulations and standards applicable in the profession.
  • Students will have acquired skills to successfully communicate with clients (eg. in archives, museums, travel agencies and other social andpolitical institutions), customers and colleagues in verbal and written way with the use of specific terminology
  • Including the ability to communicate about the profession in a foreign language.
  • keep up-to-date on professional literature in Croatian and in foreign languages
  • prepare and autonomously deliver presentations in Croatian and a foreign language to professional as well as general audience and
  • critically evaluate the professional topic presented
  • Understand and apply the learning skills required for lifelong learning and further education at the graduate level
  • Understand and apply the basic principles of planning and development in terms of career and entrepreneurial endeavours.
