Completed four years of secondary education with a successfully passed Secondary School Leaving Examination

BA (baccalaureus/baccalaurea) in Hungarian Language and Literature

Competencies acquired upon completion of studies (learning outcomes):

  • communicative language competence in the Hungarian language at the B1-B2 level according to the CEFR (beginners who enrol in the first module with the common content part) and communicative language competence in the Hungarian language at the C1 level according to CEFR (students with previous knowledge of the language who enrol in the second module with the common content part);
  • knowledge of the Hungarian language standards;
  • knowledge of Hungarian literature;
  • basic techniques of scientific processing of professional and literary texts;.
  • knowledge of the cultural and historical ties between the two countries;
  • ability to work on the text;
  • understanding of the texts of different genres and the ability to produce them;
  • ability to translate texts of different genres and contents from Croatian into Hungarian and vice versa;
  • knowledge of the culture of the Hungarian people in Hungary and culture of the Hungarian ethnic community in the Republic of Croatia;
  • application of learning strategies and organizational skills;
  • intercultural awareness, the importance of plurality of opinions;
  • ability of preserving the national identity;
  • appropriate language expression;
  • critical attitude towards the ideas and opinions expressed

Employment oportunities:

  • professional communication in spoken and written form;
  • mediation in business meetings of various types and assisting in closing deals that require knowledge of specific terminology in the Hungarian language;
  • assisting in organizing cultural events such as literary evenings, book promotions, meetings of writers and readers, marking important anniversaries for Hungarians (Independence Day, Revolution Day, etc.);
  • managing of cultural programmes;
  • translating texts of specific content and style
