Admission requirements:

Completed BA programme in Humanities or Social Sciences and 180 ECTS credits accrued

Duration of studies (years and semesters):

2 years (4 semesters)Knowledge and understanding - Acquire basic and extended knowledge of the philosophy of language, philosophical anthropology, philosophy of history, philosophy of culture, philosophy of science, philosophical bioethics, contemporary philosophy and pedagogical courses related to philosophy (methodology of teaching philosophy, teaching practicum, psychology of education) - Learn and understand the meaning of the phenomenon of language in colloquial and philosophical context and compare what language means in the linguistic, logical and philosophical sense - Understand and define what modernism means in philosophical contemplation and how it differs from modernism in the colloquial discourse - Identify how contemporary philosophical reflection on the crisis differs from the way in which crisis is most frequently perceived in other types of discourse - Understand bioethics as a specific form of moral reflection that solves the dilemma of moral and civilization aspects of the problems imposed by contemporary progress of science and technology - Compare the philosophical ethics to bioethics. Raise the principles of active dilemma or their solutions to philosophical awareness, and bring philosophical assumptions to clear explication - Become familiar with the genesis and development of the philosophy of history, with the most important thinkers who have dealt with this issue, as well as with the contemporary discussions on the philosophy of history - Understand and explain the specificity of human understanding in the discourse of philosophical anthropology in contrast to other approaches to man - Learn the basics of thinking of 20th century philosophical anthropologist: Gehlen, Plessner, Scheler - Learn and understand the central issues of contemporary problems of education, from the concepts of innovative schools to the concept of education for the future - Become familiar with the teaching practice in teaching philosophy. Application of knowledge and understanding: - Apply the acquired philosophical and educational knowledge in autonomous philosophical, scientific and essayistic writing - Become qualified for work in education institutions that teach philosophy - Be competently trained for teaching philosophy, logic and ethics - Be qualified to work in philosophical, and other humanities and social sciences institutes and institutions - Apply the knowledge of the officially approved curriculum of the philosophical group of courses design, organize and manage philosophical research - Participate in research projects - Apply the acquired knowledge and skills in professional jobs in scientific and cultural institutions, publishing houses, the mass media, museums and archives, as well as in professional jobs from the broader scope of scientific, cultural, social and public services.

Qualification awarded:

To complete the MA programme, the students must prepare and defend the Master's thesis and earn at least 120 ECTS credits (together with the other academic major). Master of Education in Philosophy

  • Acquire basic and extended knowledge of the philosophy of language, philosophical anthropology, philosophy of history, philosophy of culture, philosophy of science, philosophical bioethics, contemporary philosophy and pedagogical courses related to philosophy (methodology of teaching philosophy, teaching practicum, psychology of education)

Employment oportunities:

On completion of the MA programme in Philosophy Education, the students will have acquired the competencies required for teaching in the fields of theoretical and practical philosophy and all relevant philosophical concepts in their traditional, classical and contemporary interpretation; for a reasoned opinion and dealing with important issues of the contemporary world; for orientation in social, political, cultural, scientific, technical and media realities, as well as their theoretical and ideological aspects. The MA Programme in Philosophy offers professional competencies for teachers of philosophy, logic and ethics, but also qualifies graduates for advisory work in culture, science, media, state administration, economy, as well as in translation and librarianship. Such competencies can be used in various fields, such as the media, public administration and large organizations.
